This is a vision of stars,
the moon beneath which
slow beasts tread
come forward to you.
I am coming
toward you. The ferns
scaly, the mud
and the lumbering prints
darken behind me,
coming to the stars.
Here is Aldebaran, here
are the Pleiades, and
black dwarves dying. The sky
stands very straight, as

closing now against
us and the moon. Here
is your mirror. In
our claws, the stars
like cats’ eyes shine.
